Mobility Rights in Europe
Report on the Right to Mobility
MPG contribution to Report on the Right to Mobility Date: December 2005 Publisher: Research Group on Human Rights and the Town MPG contributed to a Report on the Right to mobility published by the Research Group on Human Rights and the Town, based at the university of Valladolid. The research group has been created to encourage the incorporation of human rights in the town planning debate, and has previously published reports on topics such as the right to adequate housing and the right to security and safety (see www.ciudad-derechos.org/eindex.html) MPG's contribution, entitled "Mobility Rights in Europe", looks at the immigration of third-country nationals into Member States of the EU, and ask what role mobility rights play in the process. It argues that the moment of admission is not the only point at which mobility rights are relevant. On the contrary, they are an important part of the package of rights accorded to immigrants once they have entered a European country.
