A European conference on the integration of migrants, organised by regional and local stakeholders

The ERLAIM project aims at improving the quality of the action of regional and local stakeholders when participating in the design and implementation of policies concerning the integration of third country nationals. On the basis of ERLAI’s experience – an already existing Brussels based informal network of regions, cities and local authorities from 6 EU Member States, active since October 2003 and engaged in asylum and immigration issues - the project intends to promote a wider transnational partnership representing a platform for dialogue on integration of migrants between European institutions, public authorities at all levels and representatives of civil society and migrant associations.

ERLAIM will organise a European conference on EU policy and funding for the integration of migrants on 13 and 14 March 2008. The 2-day conference has the following objectives:

  • To provide in-depth information to local and regional practitioners on EU policy and strategies for integration .
  • To present the current state of the ERLAIM project and to discuss the preliminary results of the project survey.
  • To exchange evaluation methods of the results of integration projects.
  • To offer different regions an opportunity to network and discuss experiences and best practice.

Alex Kirchberger from MPG will present the European Web Site on Integration project at the conference on 13 March.
