Description

15th Internatioanl Metropolis Conference 2010 bannerThe 2010 International Metropolis Conference in The Hague is a prestigious international event dealing with the topics of migration, integration and citizenship.  This year the focus will be on questions of belonging.

The Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) workshop will take participants beyond the rankings and headlines to improve their capacity to use MIPEX data in their research, policymaking, and advocacy. The panel and participants will present how they and others are using the data to assess new laws and proposals, compare across countries and over time, and improve national and international legal standards.

Researchers will discuss their secondary analysis including public opinion and immigrants' socio-economic and political participation. National and international policymakers will share how this comparable data helps them to exchange and collaborate across borders.

NGOs and immigrant associations will learn how to build their evidence base for public debates, consultations with government, and recommendations.

About the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX)

The third edition of the Migrant Integration Policy Index will be published in February 2011. Co-financed by the European Commission and managed by the British Council and Migration Policy Group, this reference guide and fully interactive tool to assess, compare and improve integration policy is supported by a network of civil society organisations spanning two continents. The 200+ indicators will monitor changes and trends in national integration policies in all EU Member States, Norway, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States.

The second edition made front-page news, sollicited responses from national ministers and EU policymakers, and led to policy roundtables throughout Europe.
