Previous groups of independent expertsUntil June 2004, four single ground experts groups were providing independent information on the transposition of Directives 2000/43/EC and 2000/78/EC in 15 EU Member States (those already members before 1 May 2004) to the European Commission.
These were a group on sexual orientation discrimination, coordinated by Leiden University; a group on disability discrimination coordinated by Galway University; and a group on race and ethnic origin discrimination and a group on religion and belief discrimination, both coordinated by the Migration Policy Group.
Summary reports written by the independent experts on race and ethnic origin discrimination and by the independent experts on religion and belief discrimination, completed in June 2004, can be downloaded from the European Commission website Independent experts also reported on the law in the 10 new Member States, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. Country reports on measures to combat discrimination on grounds of racial and ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age and sexual orientation in the 13 candidate countries were coordinated by Human European Consultancy (then known as MEDE European Consultancy) and Migration Policy Group were published by the European Commission in 2003. These reports, and the report Equality, Diversity and Enlargement, which provides summaries of the country reports and a comparative analysis of the law in the 13 countries (and is available in English, French and German). |
