ART - Awareness-raising & Training: Milestones
The the final outcomes of the training project and recommendations for follow-up to the Steering Committee and the European Commission.
The closing seminar will present the results of the national seminars but will also reflect on how NGOs could become more effective, using the examples of media portrayal and stereotyping and access to education. Suggestions and recommendations for further action on training and empowering civil society organisations, as well as on dissemination activities of the training manual developed during this project, will be brought forward. The participants invited to attend the closing seminar were selected from the pool of national trainers in all target countries, participants of the national seminars, NGOs umbrella organisations and representatives from the European Commission.
The present project builds on two previous initiatives successfully carried out by MPG and HEC, namely "Mapping capacity of civil society dealing with anti-discrimination (2004)" and "Anti-Discrimination and Diversity Training (2006)".
In February 2011, all national experts assigned to the project completed a questionnaire to identify the national needs and specificities. On the basis of this needs assessment, the coordinators of the project have now begun designing the details of the training modules.
MPG, in partnership with HEC, wins tender to help strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations working on non-discrimination and equality by developing training materials and activities for a project covering 32 countries across Europe
