This final conference will take place within the scope of the EU-project Diversity in Political Parties Programmes, Organisation and Representation (DIVPOL). The 18th-month project (duration: 15.12.2014–14.06.2014) is implemented by project partners in eight EU member states and is cofinanced by the European Commission (EC) from the European Fund for the Integration of Third-country Nationals (EIF). DIVPOL aims to evaluate and support ethnic diversity in major political parties in seven member states of the European Union. The project assesses the possibilities, raises awareness and develops practical tools to promote diversity development in political parties and to improve the chances of participation for third-country-nationals (TCN) in such parties. In total, 276 representatives of political parties and migrant organisations were interviewed and national workshops were conducted in the partner countries involving politicians, representatives of political parties and migrant organisations.
MPG Director Jan Niessen will speak on the perspectives on benchmarking and monitoring party diversity.
