There is not one year without an election being held somewhere in the European Union.
Just after the European elections, there is not yet a clear picture how people with a migrant back ground voted or how many were elected as member of the Parliament.
A case study from the UK demonstrate how important the ‘immigrant vote ‘ is for political parties.
The project Diversity in Political Parties made an inventory of what political parties are doing to reflect society’s diversity in the way they include immigrants in their organizations. The results were presented at a conference in Brussels and will be published this Autumn. At the same time, MPG is preparing the Immigrant Citizenship Campaigns, a best practice model for mobilising immigrants to become active citizens.
