This article summarises the activities undertaken to draft and gain support for the Charter of Political Parties for a Non-racist Society, which was drawn up in 1998 under the auspices of the former EU Consultative Commission on Racism and Xenophobia to stimulate discussion within and between political parties on their role in the fight against discrimination.
