MPG’s Dr. Başak Yavçan & Dr. Sinem Yilmaz present MIPEX-L at Whole-COMM Policy Community Lab
Last week the Migration Policy Group’s Basak Yavcan and Sinem Yilmaz attended the Whole-COMM Policy Community Lab hosted by the Migration Policy Centre in Florence.
MPG introduced its MIPEX-L index which brings MIPEX to the local level. Basak Yavcan presented preliminary results from 16 cities in Germany, Belgium and Italy. Once completed MIPEX-L will include data on cities from Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and Turkey. As the Migration Policy Group we are grateful for the meticulous research conducted by the Whole-COMM consortium for making this comparative migrant integration local policy index possible.
MIPEX is a unique tool which measures integration policies in 56 countries across 8 policy areas. It provides up-to-date, comprehensive research data and analysis on which to base policies, proposals for change and projects. Integration happens at the national level and the subnational level. MPG is now working on MIPEX-R, -focusing on the regional level, and MIPEX-L for the local level, which put the spotlight on regional and local variations in integration practices.
