Are you a New European? <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you live in the European Union, have a migration background and have prior experience with participating in politics, then the Democracy Academy will be a great place to grow your knowledge and make new connections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We interpret ‘<\/span>migration background<\/span><\/b>‘ in a broad sense. The term ‘New Europeans’ covers people of diverse migrant backgrounds residing in Europe, such as non-EU nationals regardless of their status, EU citizens who are naturalised migrants, people whose parents or grandparents were migrants, and EU citizens who have migrated within the EU.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior experience with political and civic participation<\/span><\/b> can consist of experience in community organising, civil society or politics.\u00a0 Experiences at the local, national or international levels are all relevant.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What can you expect?\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Through 5 interactive online sessions with experts from the Migration Policy Group (MPG) and guest speakers who are leaders in their fields, participants of the Democracy Academy will dive into topics such as evidence-based advocacy, mobilising, campaigning, participatory decision-making and growing a sustainable and resilient organisation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Democracy Academy will run from November to early December with weekly sessions of about three hours each. The sessions will take place every Thursday in the afternoon.<\/strong> Participation in the Democracy Academy is free. Participants who successfully engage in all the sessions will be awarded a certificate.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Session 1 – Welcome<\/span> and introduction<\/span> <\/span>(2 November)<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Session 2 – Evidence-based advocacy<\/span> <\/span>(9 November)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Session 3 – Organising<\/span> for sustainability and resilience<\/span> <\/span>(16 November)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Session 4 – M<\/span>obilising<\/span><\/span> and <\/span>campaigning<\/span><\/span> (23 November)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Session 5 – Participatory <\/span>decision-making <\/span><\/span>(<\/span>7 December<\/span>)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>[\/vc_column_text]
