<\/div>[vc_column_text]On Friday 1st December, the European Network of Legal Experts on Gender Equality and Non-discrimination held its annual legal seminar. MPG’s Director, Isabelle Chopin<\/strong><\/a> opened the seminar.<\/p>\n

The annual legal seminar gathered nearly 200 participants, including all experts from the network, and through workshops based notably on forthcoming publications it highlighted the Update on European case law, Court Practices regarding Disability Discrimination, including Reasonable Accommodation, at EU and Member State level, and in light of the UN CRPD, Antisemitism in the 27 EU member states, State of implementation of the LGBTIQ action plans in the 27 EU member states and the comparator in EU gender equality law.<\/p>\n

Speakers at the seminar were:<\/p>\n

Irena Moozova<\/strong><\/a>, Deputy Director-General for the International Dimension of Justice Policies, Rule of Law and Equality and acting Director for Equality and Non-Discrimination, presented the latest developments at the EU level, notably on the pending Directive on standards for Equality Bodies.<\/p>\n

Our keynote speaker Nani Jansen Reventlow<\/strong><\/a>, is an internationally recognized human rights lawyer who specialises in strategic litigation at the intersection of human rights, social justice and technology. Nani is also the founder of Systemic Justice<\/strong><\/a> and the Digital Freedom Fund<\/strong><\/a>. She explained how to revisit systemic (in)justice across Europe and underlined the crucial importance of strategic litigation.<\/p>\n

The seminar was closed by EU Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli<\/a>\u00a0who reiterated the EU\u2019s commitments on gender equality and non-discrimination.<\/p>\n

The seminar was also attended by MPG’s Senior Legal Policy Analyst, Carmine Conte, PhD<\/strong><\/a> Conte and Anti-discrimination legal and policy analyst Catharina Germaine<\/strong><\/a>, and many representatives of national governments and equality bodies, and European civil society organisations.<\/p>\n
