Presenting insights from the <a href=\"https:\/\/fair-return.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"803\" data-end=\"841\">Finding Agreement in Return (FAiR)<\/strong><\/a> project, he called for return systems that are not only effective but also fair, transparent, and grounded in EU fundamental rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"976\" data-end=\"995\">Carmine emphasised:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1590\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1081\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1081\">Return policies must respect human dignity and uphold EU fundamental rights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1175\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1084\" data-end=\"1175\">Effectiveness alone is not enough &#8211; returns must also be just, humane, and sustainable.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1276\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1178\" data-end=\"1276\">Tougher and more restrictive return policies do not necessarily lead to higher return rates.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1400\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1400\">The creation of return hubs risks violating the principle of non-refoulement and may leave migrants in legal limbo.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1401\" data-end=\"1492\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1492\">Enforcement should never come at the expense of due process and effective remedies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1590\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1495\" data-end=\"1590\">Alternatives such as regularisation programmes should be considered to support integration.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1920\">A few days earlier, on March 20, MPG joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/enable-europe.org\/enable-final-conference-20-march-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"1686\">Final Conference of the ENABLE Project<\/strong><\/a>, focused on building trauma-informed education systems for migrant, refugee, and displaced (MRD) children. These children often face serious emotional challenges, yet schools across Europe are not always equipped to meet their needs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1922\" data-end=\"2098\"><strong data-start=\"1922\" data-end=\"1940\">Dr. Mojib Atal<\/strong>, Integration Policy Analyst at MPG, presented findings from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.migpolgroup.com\/index.php\/portfolio-item\/sirius-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2021\">SIRIUS Watch<\/strong> <strong>project<\/strong><\/a>, with recommendations to strengthen psychosocial support in schools:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2100\" data-end=\"2522\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2100\" data-end=\"2169\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2169\">Integrate mental health support into national education policies;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2170\" data-end=\"2254\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2254\">Train teachers and staff in trauma-sensitive and culturally competent practices;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2255\" data-end=\"2333\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2257\" data-end=\"2333\">Ensure access to psychologists, interpreters, and dedicated support staff;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2334\" data-end=\"2398\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2336\" data-end=\"2398\">Create safe spaces and peer programmes to foster resilience;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2399\" data-end=\"2456\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2401\" data-end=\"2456\">Tackle discrimination and verbal violence in schools;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2457\" data-end=\"2522\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2522\">Promote early intervention and engage families and communities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2524\" data-end=\"2675\">Learn more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/enable-europe.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENABLE Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\">About the Migration Policy Group (MPG)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Ubuntu;\">MPG is an independent think-and-do-tank based in Brussels.
