[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Jordan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the latest additions to the The Migrant Integration Policy Index (<\/span>MIPEX<\/span><\/a>) project, a unique tool that evaluates and compares what governments are doing to promote the integration of migrants in all countries analysed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to the relevance and rigor of its indicators, MIPEX has been recognised as a common quick reference guide across Europe and internationally since its first publication in 2004. MIPEX is an invaluable tool for policymakers, NGOs, researchers, and European and international institutions, who are using its data not only to understand and compare national integration policies, but also to improve standards for equal treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

A more global index<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The inclusion of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE into MIPEX represents the first countries located in the Arabian Gulf states and the African continent to be analysed by the project; and indicates a much-needed move toward a global index. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is a significant step in the integration field that has \u2014as <\/span>highlighted<\/span><\/a> by MPG\u2019s Head of Research, Giacomo Solano, and Strategic Advisor, Thomas Huddleston\u2014 long been dominated by analyses of the Global North and specifically in Western contexts<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Integration policies since 2014<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Integration data and indicator scores for these four countries from the years 2014-2020 are already available to access on the MIPEX website. Summaries of policy changes over recent years are also presented.<\/p>\n

The review of integration policies is conducted with extensive collaboration from the following experts, peer reviewers, and country profile contributors who share their detailed knowledge to produce the comparative data on which the MIPEX depends.<\/p>\n

Jordan: Marah Jamous, Kareem Al-Sharabi, and Shereen Shaheen, from the West Asia-North Africa (WANA) Institute<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia: Fran\u00e7oise De Bel-Air, from the Gulf Labour Markets, Migration and Population (GLMM) programme of the Gulf Research Center (GRC)<\/p>\n

South Africa: Mulugeta F. Dinbabo and Michael Nguatem, from the University of the Western Cape<\/p>\n

United Arab Emirates: Fran\u00e7oise De Bel-Air and Froilan T.
