The is a unique tool which measures integration policies in 56 countries across 8 policy areas. It provides up-to-date, comprehensive research data and analysis on which to base policies, proposals for change and projects.
Besides data on national integration policies, MPG now also gather data on policies at the regional – Regin (MIPEX-R) – and local levels – Whole-COMM (MIPEX-L).
The study examined how migrant integration policies and regional social disadvantage affect the risk of psychosis among minority and majority populations in five European countries. Using data from the EU-GEI study, it found that supportive migrant integration policies (measured by MIPEX) and higher home ownership were linked to lower psychosis incidence, while unemployment and social fragmentation increased risk. Minority groups faced a higher incidence overall, especially those of Sub-Saharan African, North African, Caribbean, Latin American, and Middle Eastern origin. Adjusting for policies and social deprivation reduced, but did not eliminate, these disparities
The study examined whether multicultural learning at school fosters more positive attitudes towards immigrants, and how this is shaped by context. It found that such learning consistently improves students’ views, especially when teachers hold inclusive multicultural beliefs. The authors also tested the role of national integration frameworks, using MIPEX 2018 as an indicator, but found that policy differences did not significantly alter the relationship. This highlights the central role of schools and teachers in shaping young people’s openness to diversity.
