A tribute to Barbara Cohen

07/06/1940 – 08/06/2023

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing, on June 8th, of Barbara Cohen, a cherished friend and long-time supporter of the Migration Policy Group.

Barbara’s passion for her work was truly remarkable. As early as the 1990s, she played a vital role and was heavily involved in the Starting Line Group initiative when MPG was drafting a proposal for a European directive aimed at fighting racial and ethnic discrimination.

Throughout the years, Barbara and MPG maintained close collaboration and friendship. Particularly through her involvement with MPG in numerous training programs across different countries for a wide range of different actors ranging from grassroots to the judiciary sector.

Barbara made a difference and left a mark on all those she worked with. She brought passion, impressive expertise and also joy to everything she did.

This is a great loss to all of us and Barbara will be remembered fondly. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her daughters and family during this difficult time.
