“Attitudes of the Majority Population towards the Civic and Political Participation of Immigrants in Slovenia”

The civic and political participation of immigrants is crucial for their integration, but they often face legal and informal barriers. In this article, Medvešek et al. examine the attitudes of the majority population in Slovenia towards immigrant participation. A survey of Slovene residents revealed predominantly negative attitudes, especially against granting immigrants voting rights. Factors influencing these attitudes include gender, age, education, type of settlement, and ideological orientation.

“A quantitative investigation of immigrants integration and detention in Europe”

In this paper, Ballerini and Seri explore whether different attitudes of European countries towards migrant integration correlate with varying rates of foreigners in prison. They analyse 34 European countries using the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) and identify three clusters of countries with similar integration levels. The findings suggest a significant association between migrant integration and incarceration rates, highlighting the need for better data collection and further research on this issue. This approach provides new insights into the relationship between migrant integration and the propensity for detention among foreigners.
