Migrant Voices Observatory: Survey on policy priorities (relaunch)

Space for civil society is increasingly under pressure across Europe. Organisations working to promote and defend migrant and refugee rights face growing challenges, including funding uncertainty, political scrutiny, rising administrative burdens and fewer opportunities to influence decision-making. At the same time, major EU policies on migration, democracy, participation and social inclusion are being decided and developed, often without sufficient input from the people most directly affected by these policies.

This Migrant Voices Observatory survey is an opportunity for migrant activists and migrant-led organisations to change this.

We want to hear directly from those who represent, organise and support migrant communities across Europe. Are you part of a migrant-led organisation, network or initiative? Are you an activist, practitioner or community leader with a migrant background? This is an opportunity to make your voice heard!

[This is a relaunch of the New Europeans Survey 2026 – if you responded before the previous deadline of 25 September, you don’t need to complete it again.]

The questions cover a range of issues that are central to the future of migrant inclusion and participation, including:

• democratic participation and representation
• the implementation of the EU Migration and Asylum Pact
• organisational sustainability, funding and civic space
• the evolving needs of migrant and refugee communities
• priorities for EU action over the next five years

Several questions are repeated from the New Europeans Survey 2024, allowing us to track developments in people’s policy priorities over time.

Your responses will inform research and advocacy by the New Europeans Initiative, which works to ensure that migrant perspectives are reflected in discussions with EU institutions and policymakers. Like before, the results will be presented to EU policymakers and other key stakeholders. At a time when civic space and funding opportunities are under increasing pressure, it is more important than ever that migrant-led voices are visible, heard and represented.

The anonymous Migrant Voices Observatory survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and will close at the end of the day on 1 November 2026, Sunday.
