MPG’s Dr. Başak Yavçan discusses comparative research on integration at Includ-EU final conference

“MPG is known for its work on comparatively assessing national migrant integration policies via its extensive network of national experts in the EU and beyond.” Last week MPG’s Dr. Başak Yavçan joined a roundtable discussion on Local and regional multi-stakeholder approaches for more effective inclusion processes in Europe at the Include-EU Final Conference organised by IOM.

“We map integration policies of countries along several policy dimensions including education, health, political participation, and anti-discrimination. We use this data to inform national policymakers, stakeholders, practitioners, and migrants in the EU.”

MIPEX is a unique tool which measures integration policies in 56 countries across 8 policy areas. It provides up-to-date, comprehensive research data and analysis on which to base policies, proposals for change and projects.

“Integration happens at the national level and the subnational level. With recent projects we are conducting, which we now call MIPEX-R -focusing on the regional level and MIPEX-L for the local level, we are putting the spotlight on regional and local variations in integration practices.”
