Three MPG researchers to present at the IMISCOE conference in Norway
Three MPG researchers have been chosen to present at the annual conference organised by IMISCOE (International Migration Research Network) — Europe’s largest network of scholars in the area of migration and integration — marking MPG’s continued role as a source of innovative research to advance evidence-based policies in this area.
MPG well-represented at this year’s IMISCOE conference
Giacomo Solano, MPG’s Head of Research, will be chairing a panel on ‘Indicators in action: the comparative analysis of migration and migrant integration policies and its applications’. The panel will display research from the HumMingBird project, the Regions for Migrants and Integration (REGIN) project, and the National Integration Evaluation Mechanism (NIEM) project. Within this session, Carmine Conte, MPG’s Legal Policy Analyst, will present on ‘Measuring and Comparing Integration Policies on Refugees and Beneficiaries of Subsidiary Protection’.
In a separate panel, entitled ‘Integrating migrants in small and medium-sized towns and rural areas — perspectives on multilevel governance, political dynamics and practices of access to rights from the Whole-COMM Project’, Solano will present a paper on ‘The effect of migrants’ integration policies on their labour market integration: a comparison between urban and rural EU regions’. In doing so, he will cite data from MPG’s innovative research projects, in particular Whole-Comm, and the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX).
Also speaking at the conference will be MPG’s Integration Policy Analyst, Sinem Yilmaz, who will be approaching the field of migration from a gender perspective in her presentation on gender-blind migration theories and national- and local-level data sources, building on the work she has done in the HumMingBird and Whole-Comm projects.
