Aim of the project
The INNOVATE project aims to significantly improve and diversify how migration researchers engage with policymakers and policy stakeholders. The Migration to Policy Co-Lab does so through a series of actions that develop and test innovative approaches. These actions are grounded in the needs and interests of policymakers, migrants and researchers.
MPG's role and tasks
MPG’s role is two-fold:
- The Engagement Good Practices Toolkit, developed by MPG in close collaborations with project partners, is designed to help researchers and policy actors engage more effectively, offering structured methods for collaboration that make research more accessible, relevant, and actionable in policy discussions.
The toolkit is divided into six areas:-
- Understand your audience
- Building relationships and trust
- Tailoring research to policymakers’ needs
- Stakeholder engagement for policy change
- Reaching policymakers: Content and messages
- Reaching policymakers
-
- The Process Innovation Action on ‘Integration and long-term inclusion through migrant self-employment’ implemented multi-stakeholder round tables in Munich and Turin. The action reviewed entrepreneurship support policies, feeding into action planning informed by research evidence and the implementation of pilot actions.
The model is replicable, using the following resources:
