The new “Comparative analysis of non-discrimination law in Europe 2025” is out
This comparative analysis, drafted by Isabelle Chopin and Catharina Germaine (Migration Policy Group), compares and analyses the information set out in the 2024 country reports for the 27 EU Member States, drawing key conclusions from the evidence collected across Europe.
The report also highlights overall trends in European anti-discrimination policy and points to remaining discrepancies in how anti-discrimination legislation is applied in practice.
It provides a clear overview of the main substantive issues covered by the EU’s anti-discrimination directives, including: protected grounds, the definition and scope of discrimination, exceptions and positive action, access to justice and effective enforcement, and the role of equality bodies.

The European Network of legal experts in gender equality and non-discrimination was established in December 2014 and combines two previously existing networks: the European Network of Legal Experts in the Non-discrimination Field and the European Network of Legal Experts in the field of Gender Equality.
