A new report on “NGOs and trade unions supporting the enforcement of EU non-discrimination law”
A new report is now available: NGOs and trade unions supporting the enforcement of EU non-discrimination law, published by the European network of legal experts in gender equality and non-discrimination.
In the EU, NGOs, associations and trade unions play a vital role in advancing non-discrimination law whether by acting on behalf of victims, supporting strategic litigation, engaging in collective redress, or carrying out long-term monitoring, reporting, advocacy and capacity-building. Authored by Romanița Elena Iordache and coordinated by Catharina Germaine and Isabelle Chopin (Migration Policy Group), the report explores how this works in practice across the 27 EU Member States. It maps the legal and policy frameworks that enable (or limit) civil society and trade union action, highlighting promising approaches as well as key challenges for effective enforcement of the Equality Directives.

The European Network of legal experts in gender equality and non-discrimination was established in December 2014 and combines two previously existing networks: the European Network of Legal Experts in the Non-discrimination Field and the European Network of Legal Experts in the field of Gender Equality.
