Date: 10th October 2023, 15:00 – 16:15 (CET)

This webinar has concluded, you can rewatch it here.

The meaningful, comprehensive participation of migrant stakeholders is essential to effective and democratic policymaking. This first webinar of the New Europeans Initiative will examine the obstacles that stand in the way of the civic and political participation of New Europeans, and discuss the possibilities that exist for closing the participation gap.

In this webinar, we present our new report that analyses interviews conducted with New European representatives across the EU on the barriers they face and the suggestions they have for policymakers. The presentation will be followed by a panel debate involving several of those who contributed to the report research, who will discuss these barriers and potential strategies for overcoming them with each other and with the webinar audience. The event will close with a brief presentation of the next steps for the New Europeans Initiative, including the toolkit for participatory policy-making, , and workshops.
