Electoral Participation

Despite representing a significant portion of the EU population, mobile voters who are eligible to participate are often underrepresented in local, national, and EU elections. There are numerous reasons why naturalised or second-generation migrants and mobile EU citizens may turn out in lower numbers and stand less often as candidates. The New Europeans Initiative brings to the fore the obstacles that lead to these divergences and proposes ways to increase electoral participation.
