Participation Policy Index

Among all dimensions of Migrant Integration Policies, political participation is where countries score the lowest globally. To address this gap, MPG has developed a novel comparative index on Migrant Political Participation across all EU member states, aimed at measuring the policies fostering the political participation and integration of New Europeans.

The index, set to launch at the end of 2024, will illustrate policy developments in EU member states across the following eight main dimensions:

• A national strategy to increase civic and political participation
• Full political and civic rights through citizenship
• The right to vote in elections for foreign citizens
• Encouragement to vote
• Promotion of representation in political life
• Representation of migrant-led civil society
• Creation, protection, and fostering of a strong civic space
• Civic education for a diversifying society
